What RudyDesk Can Do Today: Remote Access From Your Browser (v0.2.7)

RudyDesk gives you remote access to a computer. You connect right from the browser on any device, and the computer you connect to runs the app for Windows, macOS or Linux. Two devices are free forever, including for work.

How to connect

Every device has a nine-digit number and a password. Give them to your helper, they connect, and you confirm the request.

Dictating digits over the phone is awkward, so there is an invite link: tap "Invite with a link" and send it in a messenger. The link works once and lives 15 minutes, and you still have to confirm the connection.

Confirmation and protection against scammers

Nobody connects without your consent. If the request comes from an unknown device, the window warns you: real banks and support services never ask for remote access over the phone.

You can allow screen viewing only: the other side sees the screen, but mouse, keyboard, files and terminal are off limits.

Control from your phone

Your phone shows the computer's desktop, and its screen works as a trackpad: tap to click, two fingers to scroll, three to switch windows. The session has voice: tap the microphone and talk without starting a separate call.

Waking a sleeping computer

Computer asleep or switched off? The "Wake this computer" button in the device list asks another device on the same network to send it a wake signal. With no second computer at home, a smart plug, a small bridge on a Raspberry Pi or an ESP32 board will do.

What the owner sees

The connection log shows who connected, when and for how long, and under each entry — what was done: which files were received, whether the terminal was opened, whether the clipboard was used. Keystrokes and pasted text are not recorded.

Security

  • Screen, audio and data are encrypted device to device (DTLS-SRTP); the server never sees the session content
  • The device password never reaches the server: knowing it is proven by answering a one-time challenge
  • Updates are signed with the RudyDesk key — the app refuses a tampered file

What it costs

Two devices are free forever. Paid plans start at $6 per month, for more devices, the terminal, recording and team features. While payments are not accepted yet, all plans are free — the pricing page says so.

What is still missing

  • A phone cannot share its screen: mobile browsers do not let websites capture it
  • The installers are not yet signed by Microsoft and Apple — on first launch the system warns about an unknown publisher
  • A self-hosted server for companies is not offered yet
